NEWSLETTER June 2021

The countdown is on to our Midyear Showcase, all our students are doing an amazing job in their classes each week, working hard on their routines, and are super excited to share their amazing progress, and skills they have been learning with you all at the Showcase!

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS AND TERM DATES
We will be closed Sunday 13th June and Monday 14th June for the Public Holiday Queens Birthday Weekend. However due to our upcoming showcase, our classes performing will have final classes to rehearse their showcase pieces.

Adults Lyrical 10am Sunday 13th June – CLOSED
Adults Hip Hop 10am Monday 14th June – CLOSED
Ballet Junior  (7-9yrs) Monday 14th June – CLASS TIME 5PM-6.15PM
Ballet Intermediate (10-12yrs)14th June  – CLASS TIME 6.15-7.30PM
Ballet intermediate (13-14yrs) 14th June – CLOSED
Adults Jazz Open Monday 14th June- CLASS TIME 6.30-7.30PM
Adults lyrical Open Monday 14th June – CLASS TIME 6.30-7.30PM

Last day of Term 2 is Sunday 27th June. Classes resume for Term 3  Monday 12th July.

SHOWCASE – IMPORTANT REMINDERS

All students who have classes on Saturdays will still have their normal lesson on Saturday 19th June if their class starts prior to 11.15am. Everyone will head to the Showcase venue for stage rehearsal at 12:30pm

The following classes WILL NOT run at the studio on Saturday 19th June:

Adults Ballet 10:45 – 11:45am
Theatre Jazz at 12pm
Jazz Open (10-13) at 12:45pm
Tap Open (10-13) at 1:30pm
Adults Tap Course 2.15pm

UNIFORMS

All students should have ordered their uniforms online by now, recent orders will be handed out in class over the next 7 days
The remaining stock will be updated in the store early next week.

PRODUCT RECALL: if anyone has ordered a black crop please return it ASAP and swap for a new one, we have had a couple of faulty crops and are replacing them!

ON THE DAY
Please drop your Child off at 12:30pm at the Forestville Memorial Hall dressed in their full uniform. They will then have a dress rehearsal on stage before the showcase commences so they can become familiar with the stage and environment.

TICKETS

ALL Tickets are now SOLD OUT!

Doors will open at 1:45pm for all ticket holders.
The orange wristbands are your entry tickets,
You must be wearing a wristband to gain entry to the hall.

We will not have any lists or proof of sales on the day, so it is IMPORTANT to have your wristband on you to gain entry Thank you for your understanding with this.

COVID RULES

Before entering the hall, you will need to sign in to the venue via QR Code and use hand sanitizer provided. Please maintain social distancing at all times and if you are feeling unwell, please stay home and get tested. 

FAQ’s:

Do parents stay for the dress rehearsal?
No, parents are not permitted to stay for the rehearsal, it is drop-off only. Parents can return to gain entry to the hall from 1:45pm (Exception: Adventure students 3-6yrs can rehearse at 12.30 then be collected and returned to the venue at 1.45pm)
What does my child need to wear?
All Children must be in full uniform on the day, including correct footwear. There is a student room to leave bags with change of shoes
.
What happens if i lose my wristband?
Your wristband is your ticket and we will not have any proof of sales at the venue, if you lose your wristband you will need to purchase a new one at the door if space permits..
Where is the hall located?
The Hall is located on the corner of Warringah rd and  Starkey Street in Forestville. There is a small car park at the hall as well as street parking in Nicholas Ave and Wyngate Crescent. There is also parking in coles across the street.
What does my child need to bring on the day?
Students will just need to bring their dance shoes as well as a water bottle (clearly named or in a named bag). A canteen will be available on the day with drinks and snacks.
Do we need hair and makeup?
Yes, Hair should be styled in a slick (hairspray/pins) ponytail or braid, or a Bun for Ballet.fringes should be pinned back off the face.  Light makeup is required so the lights do not wash your face/expression out on stage. Seniors to wear normal stage makeup.


WEEK 10 OPEN WEEK
In our last week of Term 2 we are opening up our classes and we have lots of new students booked in for trials, its super exciting to see our BDC family growing. If your child is inspired at the showcase and wants to perform more in our end of year concert they are welcome to try out some different dance styles, all enrolled students can try any other class in their age group out in our last week of Term. If you would like to book your child in to try another class in week 10 commencing 21st June, please email us at bdc@brookvaledancecentre.com to book their trial 🙂

SAVE THE DATE – END OF YEAR CONCERT

We are super excited to have our End of year concert date pencilled in, more information will be available soon once all details are confirmed. We also have photo days and rehearsal dates pencilled in as well, please save the dates now!

Dates for your Diary:

Sunday 7th November 9-5pm- Photo Day at Studio

Sunday 14th November – 9-5pm Dress Rehearsal for End of Year Concert at the studio

Thursday 2nd December – 9-5pm Tech rehearsal at the venue
Thursday 2nd December – 6.30-9.30pm End of Year Production!!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • Showcase Saturday 19th June at 2pm. Students arrive 12:30pm/Audience 1.45pm
  • Term 2 Last Day Sunday 27th June
  • Term 3 commences Monday 12th July
