Lets stay connected!
As valued members of Brookvale Dance Centre we appreciate the trust you place in us and are thankful for your support at this time. We ask you to please read the following important information:
AS OF TUESDAY 24TH OF MARCH:
For the safety of our dance community and in light of the new restrictions placed on indoor gatherings, all of our classes will move to a digital platform and will be livestreamed via ZOOM.
This means that the studio will close it’s doors however students can still participate in their regular class online.
Our teachers will conduct the class from our closed studio. Teachers will be able to see the students via their screen and they will be able to interact, ask questions and be critiqued. Classes will be modified in order to be appropriate for at home participation.
The health and wellbeing of our students is our top priority and we truly believe that dance is a wonderful way for students to stay fit, active and mentally stimulated. The livestream of classes also allows students to maintain routine, social interaction and continuity during this disruption.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN LIVESTREAM CLASSES:
*You will only be able to watch your class during your regular class’s timeslot
You can participate in livestream on any laptop, tablet or smartphone device with access to the internet in one quick and easy step.
Login to your parent portal at:
Under Today’s Schedule you will see your online class (See image below)
Simply click the class with the video camera icon next to it.
The zoom platform should then open in your browser.
We have tried to make this process as simple as possible and should you have any problems we will be on standby to take your calls and troubleshoot any difficulties you may have.
TIPS FOR TAKING CLASS AT HOME
Set up your phone or laptop in an area with a minimum of 2 square metres space or more. Move any furniture out of the way or even try heading outside for some fresh air. Make sure you have your device fully charged or plugged in to a power source.
Minimise distractions – treat this as a normal class and put your phone away, turn off your TV and inform family members you are taking class.
Dress the part – Wear your usual dance clothes and shoes
Be consistent. We will be working on important class content just like we would in the studio so make sure to tune in each week to stay up to date with the class.
Over the next 5 weeks we will be adding additional online content , dance videos, Guest workshops and tutorials for students to take part in while home, this will be provided to all Enroled BDC students at no additional charge.
